She is survived by her grandson, Sean and Tonya Cowling of De Queen and great grandchildren, Sam and Brianna Cowling, Katie Cowling and Carac Cowling great grandchildren, Brooklee, Arley, Riggs and Kleine Cowling one sister, Margie Acklen Spoon of De Queen one brother, James Acklen of Broken Bow a number of nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Mary Kesterson.Ī memorial service will be held at a later date in Corinth, Mississippi. Verna was preceded in death by her parents, William Lee and Mattie Holder Acklen one daughter, Linda Carolyn Dowd Walker her husband, Sidney Dowd, Jr and ten brothers and sisters, John William Acklen, Hubert Wesley Acklen, Robert Wayne “Bob” Acklen, Leonard Dale “L.D.”Acklen, Opal Mae Acklen, Emma Lee Perez, Mary Alice Chamberlain, Bertha Frances Farvo, Barbara Jane Marcantel and Martha Ann Zukos.
She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was born Januin Bird County Township, Arkansas. Michael Health system in Texarkana, Texas. Verna Mae Acklen Dowd, age 93, of De Queen, Arkansas passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Christus St.
